I was intrigued by the flavours, the whole winemaking process and the stories on the back of the bottle. I was hooked! I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this world and I moved to Australia to study wine at the southern hemisphere’s premier wine school, Roseworthy College.
Around the same time my parents, ever the entrepreneurs, invested in a vineyard in Langhorne Creek, South Australia. After a few years of observing what they did in Australia, they took the plunge and bought a bare block of land in the Awatere Valley, then a little known sub region of NZ’s most famous wine region, Marlborough. A caravan was put onsite and they, along with my youngest sister Wendy, set about planting 11.25ha of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir on what was to turn out to be a very special site.
